Truth is Love. Love is Truth.
The biblical concept that truth is love and love is truth finds its deepest expression in the nature of God Himself.
Scripture declares that "God is love" (1 John 4:8, 16), revealing love as the essence of His being, while Jesus proclaims, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life" (John 14:6), identifying Himself—the incarnate God—as the embodiment of truth. Because God is both fully love and fully truth without contradiction or compromise, genuine love always rejoices in the truth (1 Corinthians 13:6) and seeks the ultimate good of others through honest, life-giving revelation-even when that revelation hurts.
Conversely, truth is not meant to be detached from sacrificial, building-up love, as seen in Christ's life and death. Thus, love without truth becomes empty sentiment, and truth without love turns brutal; together, inseparably united in God and in believers who "speak the truth in love" (Ephesians 4:15), they reflect divine character, foster spiritual maturity, and lead to eternal life.
